Introducing Two Gold Moons Gardens

If you’ve been following Two Gold Moons for a while, you probably already know that I have a hard time leaving well enough alone.

A plant shop became a plant, curiosity and lifestyle boutique. Plants turned into gardens. Gardens turned into cut flowers, roses, pollinator spaces, vegetable beds, winding paths and an ever-growing collection of ideas that somehow always seem to begin with, “Okay, but what if we also…”

Very “if you give a mouse a cookie”.

And now all of those little ideas are starting to become one cohesive brand.

Two Gold Moons Gardens

Over the last year, I’ve been slowly transforming a portion of my property in Woodstock, Connecticut into something that feels like a natural extension of Two Gold Moons, a garden space centered around flowers, plants, art, preservation, creativity and the beauty of the natural world. All wrapped up into one beautiful package.

The projected opening is Spring 2027, and although there is still plenty of dirt to move and quite a few things to build between now and then, I finally feel like I can start sharing the vision.

So… what exactly is Two Gold Moons Gardens?

That answer is still growing right along with the gardens.

I don’t want it to feel like a traditional formal manicured garden where everything is perfect and you walk through without touching anything.

I want it to feel like it is alive.

A little wild, romantic but also interesting cottage garden.

There are cut flower rows filled with varieties I’ve chosen specifically for color, texture and floral design. There are perennial gardens, roses, a Moon Garden, pollinator plantings, a Mediterranean-inspired vegetable garden, fruit trees, winding paths and spaces that are being designed simply because I think they are pretty.

Some areas will be functional production gardens, and others wildlife friendly habitats. Some will become places to gather, create and learn.

And at the center of it all will be something I have been dreaming about for a very long time.

The Glass House Conservatory

One of the main features of Two Gold Moons Gardens will be a glass greenhouse-inspired conservatory tucked into the landscape.

The Glass House Conservatory is being designed as more than a greenhouse. It will be a creative space surrounded by gardens where we can hold intimate workshops, curated photography experiences, gather around a table and learn about the natural world in a setting that actually feels connected to it.

It will also become the home for some of the workshops that have become such an important part of Two Gold Moons.

That means you can expect classes centered around butterfly and insect preservation, responsible specimen preparation, entomology art, plants, flowers and botanical design, along with conversations about pollinators, habitat and conservation.

I think there is something incredibly powerful about learning how to preserve a butterfly while sitting in a garden that was intentionally planted to help butterflies and other pollinators thrive.

Preservation and conservation don’t have to be opposing ideas. In fact, I think understanding these tiny creatures more closely can make us care much more deeply about protecting the living ones around us.

If you’ve attended one of my current Two Gold Moons workshops, you already know I love classes where you leave with more than just something you made. I want you to learn something, notice something differently, get excited about a new hobby, and leave my class with a full heart.

The Glass House will let me take that so much further.

There will be flowers. A lot of flowers.

The cut flower gardens are already becoming a huge part of this project, and beginning in 2027 I hope to use more flowers grown right here at Two Gold Moons Gardens in workshops, floral projects and seasonal offerings.

I’m growing dahlias, snapdragons, lisianthus, campanula, larkspur, scabiosa, zinnias, feverfew, basil, bupleurum, strawflowers, celosia, gomphrena and approximately seventeen thousand other things I convinced myself I needed.

Eventually, I would also love to incorporate opportunities for garden experiences and perhaps limited U-pick days as the gardens mature.

A space for photography

This is another part of the project I’m extremely excited about.

The gardens and Glass House Conservatory are being designed with photography in mind from the beginning.

The conservatory, cottage-style gardens, roses, flowers and surrounding landscape will create a setting for seasonal photography sessions, creative shoots, product photography and other small-scale photography opportunities in Northeast Connecticut.

I want the garden itself to be the backdrop.

Something natural and dimensional that changes depending on when you visit.

One month it might be roses spilling over a trellis. Another it might be dahlias, tall grasses and late-summer flowers. In spring, everything will look completely different again.

There will always be something happening.

And yes, there will be new workshops

Some familiar Two Gold Moons favorites will absolutely continue.

Butterflies. Botanicals. Specimens. Terrariums. Flowers. Plants.

But having an actual garden and conservatory opens the door to a completely different kind of workshop schedule.

I’m currently dreaming up ideas involving growing and arranging cut flowers, botanical preservation, floral art, seasonal events, planting workshops and plenty of things I haven’t even thought of yet.

And I’m very interested in bringing in other artists, growers and knowledgeable creatives to teach things that fit naturally into the world of Two Gold Moons.

Basically, if it involves plants, flowers, art, insects, nature or some strange intersection of all five, there’s a decent chance I’m interested.

I’m sharing Two Gold Moons Gardens now because I don’t want to wait until everything is polished to let you see it.

Gardens don’t really work that way anyway.

There is going to be a lot of trial and error between here and Spring 2027.

I want to share that part too.

Over the coming months I’ll be sharing the building of the Glass House Conservatory, the development of the cut flower gardens, what I’m planting, what completely fails, what’s blooming, behind-the-scenes garden projects and eventually details about workshops, photography opportunities and visiting Two Gold Moons Gardens.

Coming Spring 2027

If all goes according to plan Two Gold Moons Gardens will begin welcoming visitors in Spring 2027.

I’ll share specific dates, workshops and ways to visit as we get closer.
